David Luidold

David Luidold è un musicista affermato, trombonista basso ed educatore con una vasta esperienza internazionale in ambito concertistico e didattico.
Ha studiato trombone presso l’Università di Musica e Arti Performative di Graz con Carsten Svanberg e Hans Ströcker, ha proseguito gli studi all’Università di Musica e Arti Performative di Vienna con Dietmar Küblböck e ha completato uno scambio Erasmus presso l’Università delle Arti di Berlino con Stefan Schulz. Ulteriori studi privati lo hanno portato a New York e Chicago, dove ha lavorato con Joseph Alessi, Charles Vernon e Michael Mulcahy.
Dal 2015 David Luidold è attivo come professore ospite e docente presso l’Università di Musica e Arti Performative di Graz, dove insegna esecuzione strumentale, comunicazione musicale e coordina progetti artistici. Parallelamente, dal 2009 ricopre il ruolo di trombonista basso presso la Graz Philharmonic Orchestra all’Opera di Graz, partecipando a numerose produzioni e collaborando con direttori e orchestre di fama internazionale.
Dal 2004 al 2025 ha ricoperto l’incarico di direttore principale della Stadtmusikapelle Liezen. Nel 2025 ha assunto la posizione di direttore principale della Musikkapelle Abfaltersbach nel Tirolo Orientale, con l’obiettivo di sviluppare nuovi progetti artistici e programmi concertistici.
David Luidold è membro fondatore del Graz Trombone Quartet, con il quale si è esibito all’Opera di Graz, nonché in Italia e in Asia. Insieme alla dott.ssa Carina Gander-Luidold, è direttore artistico dei Trombone Power Days di Lienz, un format internazionale di masterclass dedicato sia allo sviluppo della tecnica sia alla mentalità artistica.
Come musicista d’orchestra, ha collaborato con importanti compagini quali la Filarmonica di Vienna, la Filarmonica di Berlino, l’Orchestra Sinfonica della Radio Bavarese, l’Orchestra Sinfonica di Vienna, il Teatro alla Scala di Milano e l’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. È stato inoltre membro di rinomate orchestre giovanili internazionali, tra cui il Pacific Music Festival di Sapporo, l’European Union Youth Orchestra e la Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
Nel campo della pedagogia e del coaching, David Luidold tiene regolarmente masterclass e workshop internazionali in Europa, Asia e nelle Americhe.
Dal 2025 David Luidold ricopre l’incarico di rappresentante dell’Austria presso l’International Trombone Association.

He is an accomplished musician, bass trombonist, and educator with extensive international concert and teaching experience.
He studied trombone at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with Carsten Svanberg and Hans Ströcker, continued his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Dietmar Küblböck, and completed an Erasmus exchange at the Berlin University of the Arts with Stefan Schulz. Further private studies took him to New York and Chicago, where he worked with Joseph Alessi, Charles Vernon, and Michael Mulcahy.
Since 2015, David Luidold has been active as a guest professor and lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where he teaches instrumental performance, music communication, and leads artistic projects. In parallel, he has been a bass trombonist with the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra at Graz Opera since 2009, performing in numerous productions and collaborating with leading international conductors and orchestras.
From 2004 to 2025, he served as principal conductor of the Stadtmusikapelle Liezen. In 2025, he assumed the position of principal conductor of the Musikkapelle Abfaltersbach in East Tyrol, focusing on developing new artistic projects and concert programs.
David Luidold is a founding member of the Graz Trombone Quartet, with which he has performed at the Graz Opera House as well as in Italy and Asia. Together with Dr. Carina Gander-Luidold, he is the artistic director of the Trombone Power Days in Lienz, an international masterclass format dedicated to both technical skill development and artistic mindset.
As an orchestral musician, he has appeared as a substitute with leading ensembles including the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, La Scala Milan, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. He has also been a member of renowned international youth orchestras such as the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, the European Union Youth Orchestra, and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
In the field of pedagogy and coaching, David Luidold regularly gives international masterclasses and workshops throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Since 2025, David Luidold has served as Austria’s representative to the International Trombone Association.
