Rocco Rescigno

Rocco Rescigno, nato nel 1992 a Udine, ha iniziato i suoi studi musicali presso la Scuola di Musica di Passons (UD) con il pianoforte e l’organo, ai quali si sono successivamente aggiunti il trombone e il sassofono.
Dal 2008 al 2011 ha intrapreso il Triennio sperimentale in trombone presso il Conservatorio di Udine con il Prof. Domenico Lazzaroni. In questo periodo ha fatto parte dell’“Orchestra Nazionale dei Conservatori d’Italia”.

Dopo gli studi a Udine, nel 2011 si è trasferito all’Universität der Künste di Berlino, entrando nella classe di trombone dei professori Stefan Schulz, Andreas Klein e Rainer Vogt. Nel 2014 ha ricevuto borse di studio dal Rotary Club della città di Perg e dal DAAD. Nel 2015 ha concluso il Bachelor con menzione dall’Università delle Arti, prima di iniziare il corso di Master.

Nel 2015 è stato ammesso come accademista alla Karajan-Akademie dei Berliner Philharmoniker, dove il suo principale mentore è stato il Prof. Christhard Gössling. Durante questo periodo ha partecipato a tournée, ha collaborato a progetti di musica da camera dei Berliner Philharmoniker ed è stato coinvolto in produzioni discografiche. Ha lavorato con importanti direttori d’orchestra e si è esibito come ospite nelle principali orchestre berlinesi (Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper, Komische Oper, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester). Nel 2016 è stato selezionato per la Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, con la quale ha effettuato tournée in tutta Europa.

Al termine della borsa di studio presso i Berliner Philharmoniker, nel 2017 ha vinto il posto di primo trombone solista dei Duisburger Philharmoniker / Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Da allora collabora con diverse orchestre della Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia, nonché con i Berliner Philharmoniker, i Münchner Philharmoniker e l’Orchestra Sinfonica della Radio Bavarese.

Dalla stagione 2020/2021 è inoltre docente presso la Folkwang Universität der Künste di Essen. Collabora come docente con la Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, il Landesjugendblasorchester Rheinland-Pfalz e la Junge Bläserphilharmonie NRW. È regolarmente invitato come giurato in concorsi e tiene masterclass a livello internazionale.

Come solista, Rocco Rescigno si dedica con particolare impegno alla musica contemporanea per trombone e ha già eseguito oltre quaranta prime assolute. Nell’ambito dei concerti filarmonici della città di Duisburg avrebbe dovuto eseguire nel gennaio 2021 il Concerto per trombone di Henri Tomasi; a causa della pandemia di coronavirus, impossibilitato a esibirsi dal vivo, ha realizzato una produzione video, successivamente lodata dalla Société Tomasi di Marsiglia con il giudizio “Magnifique”.

Del 2026 sono le prime pubblicazioni discografiche di Rocco Rescigno: “Echoes of Now” (Ars-Produktion), con opere inedite per trombone solo, e “Morphing Landscapes” (Da Vinci Publishing), realizzato insieme al pianista jazz Rudy Fantin, progetto che unisce repertorio ed esplorazione di nuove sonorità.

Rocco Rescigno, born in 1992 in Udine, began his musical studies at the Music School of Passons (Udine), where he studied piano and organ, later adding trombone and saxophone to his training.

From 2008 to 2011, he attended the Trombone “Triennio sperimentale” at the Conservatory of Udine under the guidance of Professor Domenico Lazzaroni. During this period, he was a member of the National Orchestra of the Italian Conservatories.

After completing his studies in Udine, he moved to Berlin in 2011 to study at the Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste Berlin), joining the trombone class of Professors Stefan Schulz, Andreas Klein, and Rainer Vogt. In 2014, he was awarded scholarships by the Rotary Club of Perg and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In 2015, he graduated with distinction from the University of the Arts and subsequently began his Master’s studies.

In 2015, he was admitted to the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, where his principal mentor was Professor Christhard Gössling. During this period, he took part in concert tours, collaborated on chamber music projects with members of the Berlin Philharmonic, and participated in recording productions. He worked with renowned conductors and performed as a guest musician with Berlin’s leading orchestras, including the Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper, Komische Oper, and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.

In 2016, he was selected to join the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, with which he toured extensively throughout Europe.

Following the completion of his scholarship at the Berlin Philharmonic, he won the position of Principal Trombone with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra / Deutsche Oper am Rhein in 2017.

Since then, he has collaborated with numerous orchestras in North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as with the Berlin Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Since the 2020/2021 season, he has also served as a faculty member at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.

He regularly teaches with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, the Landesjugendblasorchester Rheinland-Pfalz, and the Junge Bläserphilharmonie NRW. He is frequently invited to serve as a jury member in competitions and gives masterclasses internationally.

As a soloist, Rocco Rescigno is particularly committed to contemporary trombone music and has premiered more than forty new works. As part of the Duisburg Philharmonic concert series, he was scheduled to perform Henri Tomasi’s Trombone Concerto in January 2021; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impossibility of performing live, he produced a video performance instead, which was later praised by the Société Tomasi in Marseille as “Magnifique.”

The year 2026 marks the release of Rocco Rescigno’s first recordings: Echoes of Now (Ars Produktion), featuring previously unpublished works for solo trombone, and Morphing Landscapes (Da Vinci Publishing), created together with jazz pianist Rudy Fantin, a project that combines established repertoire with the exploration of new sonic possibilities.
