Lanet Flores Otero

Lanet Flores Otero è nata e cresciuta a Cuba. Ha studiato clarinetto presso l’“Instituto Superior de Arte” dell’Avana, a Cuba, e presso l’Accademia di Musica di Basilea (FHNW), in Svizzera, con François Benda. Si è diplomata nel 2002 conseguendo il Diploma di Solista e ha ricevuto il primo premio dalla Società Orchestrale di Basilea. Successivamente ha completato anche un corso post-laurea in improvvisazione libera presso la Scuola di Musica di Lucerna.
Si è esibita come primo clarinetto dell’“Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba” all’Avana e per diversi anni con la Basel Sinfonietta e l’Orchestra da Camera di Basilea, in concerti sia in Svizzera sia all’estero.
Svolge regolarmente attività cameristica, con un repertorio che comprende musica classica, romantica e contemporanea. Tra gli altri, ha partecipato al Festival di Davos, ai World Music Days, al Demenga Festival e al Festival Musicale di Berna.
Negli ultimi anni ha maturato esperienza nella prassi esecutiva su strumenti storici, partecipando a progetti della Schola Cantorum Basiliensis ed essendo membro fondatore del quintetto di fiati storici “Respiratio”.
E’ una musicista versatile, con un ampio ventaglio di interessi ed è sempre aperta a nuove sperimentazioni musicali. Nell’ambito del teatro musicale ha collaborato a diversi programmi scenici con l’“Ensemble Viceversa” e suona tango con l’“Orquesta Típica Silencio”. Da molti anni è inoltre attivamente impegnata nell’educazione musicale dei bambini in Svizzera e si è esibita come clarinettista/improvvisatrice e attrice presso la Gare des Enfants / Gare du Nord di Basilea.
Insegna clarinetto presso l’Accademia di Musica di Basilea, con la quale partecipa a numerosi progetti. Condividere il suo entusiasmo e il suo amore per la musica, e in particolare per il clarinetto, è per lei una missione molto sentita.

Lanet Flores Otero was born and raised in Cuba. She studied clarinet at the “Instituto Superior de Arte” in Havana, Cuba and at the Basel Academy of Music (FHNW), Switzerland, with François Benda. She graduated in 2002 with a Soloist Diploma and received the first prize from the Basel Orchestral Society. Afterwards, she also completed a postgraduate degree in free improvisation at the Lucerne School of Music.
She has performed as principal clarinetist of the “Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba” in Havana and for several years with the Basel Sinfonietta and the Basel Chamber Orchestra in concerts both in Switzerland and abroad.
She appears regularly as chamber musician, with a repertoire that includes classical, romantic and contemporary music. Among others, she has been featured at the Davos Festival, World Music Days, Demenga Festival, and the Bern Music Festival.
During the last years, she has gained experience in performance practice with historical instruments, performing in projects of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and as founding member of the historical woodwind quintet “Respiratio”.
She is musically versatile, has a wide range of interests and is always open to new musical experiments. In the field of musical theatre, she has collaborated in several scenic programs with the “Ensemble Viceversa” and plays tango with the “Orquesta Típica Silencio”. For many years, she has also been actively involved in music education for children in Switzerland and has performed as a clarinetist/improviser and actress at the Gare des Enfants / Gare du Nord Basel.
She teaches a clarinet class at the Basel Music Academy, with which she participates in numerous projects. Sharing her enthusiasm and love for music, and especially for the clarinet, is a matter close to her heart.
